About Erik Peterson

Erik Petersen, BS-Exercise Physiology, is the resident Kettlebell expert at Rock Bottom Gym. Erik’s education and career focus is on healthy living through fitness and functionally correct body movements. Erik holds certifications as an Exercise Coach from the CHEK Institute, CVKP Kettlebell Instructor, and a Massage Therapist. His sessions include joint mobility and specific muscle release work prior to all sessions to ensure the body is ready to work.

Working with kettlebells focuses on the preparatory movements to get the body ready for more intense strength work and strength-endurance drills and circuits. Through this emphasis, kettlebells represent a safe modality for people of all ages, fitness levels, and body types. Kettlebells are a fantastic way to develop total body strength and a strong mind-body connection. Kettlebells strengthen commonly weak areas such as this hips, hamstrings, back, shoulders, hands, and the core. ‘Bells are easily transported so watch for Erik and his groups to be outside during the warmer months. Grab a friend and try a session - you will surprise yourself!

When not competing with kettlebells or training clients, Erik enjoys time with his wife and cheering for his alma mater, Central Michigan University.
